Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

Not satisfied with the shape or size of your nose or with breathing issues due to the shape of your nose? Happy Life Ahead is here to help you with rhinoplasty in Turkey.

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic treatment that reshapes the skeleton and soft tissues of the nose. The purpose of rhinoplasty may be to adjust the appearance of the nose and improve breathing. The shape and size of the nose will certainly affect the expression of the face. Being disappointed with the shape or size of the nose can cause low confidence and emotional problems. In this way, the nose surgical procedure is preferred by both men and women and is one of the most widely done procedures in the world.

Nose surgery is one of the operations which gives the best results, thanks to progress in medicine and the creation of new methods.

  • Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

People of any age benefit from rhinoplasty. Nose surgery is also one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries for young patients, while medical professionals take extraordinary care when deciding if a younger patient is eligible for rhinoplasty. It is essential for patients of all ages to have realistic desires. Rhinoplasty can help you improve your current nose, but it cannot offer “perfection” or give you another person’s nose. A professional, skilled surgeon will clarify to you what is possible and help you achieve a nose that looks natural.

Rhinoplasty should be achieved by taking all nasal defects into account. The nasal structures are intertwined and one deformation is reminiscent of the others. An operation performed to correct only one defect will make other defects clearer and potentially worse. The inner and outer sides of the nose should then be measured as a whole, and surgical care in the same session should be undertaken.

For example, an outside-nose curvature is associated with the curvature in the cartilage known as the septum. In this kind of patient the same session should require “septorhinoplasty and nasal concha activity.” Indeed, the outward curvature cannot be corrected on its own without correcting the septum in the nose. The strengthening of the nose septum makes it easier for the patient to breathe after surgery.

  • How is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Most part of the procedure for rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia. The operation generally takes 2,5 hours on average; however, a rhinoplastic procedure normally lasts for a whole day with preoperative and post-operative planning and observations. You are advised to stay at the hospital on the first night for your comfort. Two different types of a nose job are commonly favoured:

    • Open Rhinoplasty: In the Nasal Section known as “columella” that separates the nose from the middle, an incision is made that interferes with the tissue inside and conducts a septoplastic procedure or rhinoplastic procedure.
    • Closed Rhinoplasty: The incisions are made from inside the nose in this technique. No incision or suture can therefore be seen externally. Through these nasal incisions, nasal cartilage and back are achieved. By working completely inside the nose, the necessary cartilage and bone reshaping are done.

  • Non-Surgical Nose Job

One of the most preferred techniques is non-surgical nose work for some cases where nasal distortions are not so severe. A dermal filling is applied on the nasal bridge in this method, also known as nose-fillers.

Non-surgical nose operations are very easy to perform and the products are used for filling and are very recommended for minor problems, such as low nasal tip, contour problems in the nose, wrinkled nose appearances and flatness of the nose.

With this technology, a new aesthetic appearance can be gained and the slight deformities can be corrected.

  • Ultrasonic (Piezo) Rhinoplasty

The Piezo Method is a method developed by Italian surgeons in the 1980s, also known as Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty. The main benefit of this method is to use the sound waves without damaging your skin or causing a chemical problem and to correct the nose without damaging the cartilage or nasal tissues.

Sometimes bruising and swelling occur when rhinoplasty is open or closed. The procedure is carried out with ultrasound waves with Piezo Rhinoplasty, without the necessity of breaking the bones in the nose. This minimizes the effects of secondary effects such as contusion and swelling. During the piezo rhinoplasty, 2 methods are applied. The open technique results in ultrasound nose work procedures with more successful results.

  • Tip Plasty (Nasal Tip Surgery)

The shape of the tip of the nose is one of the parts which affects the esthetic appearance of the nose. The widely seen deformations at the nose tip can be described as follows:

    • Too wide nasal tip
    • Nasal tip that looks squeezed
    • Asymmetry in nostrils
    • Droopy nasal tip
    • Upturned nasal tip
    • Narrow nasal tip

For the patients who have the above-mentioned problems, tip plastic operation, which is a rhinoplastic sub-category, is performed. There is no interference with the nasal bone; it is only affected by the soft tissue and cartilage. It is thus easier to accomplish than rhinoplasty. All protocols before and after an operation are identical to other nose surgeries. The duration is shorter and it is within 30-60 minutes that all procedures can be completed. Restoration time is also shorter than a rhinoplastic operation.

  • Septoplasty

Septoplasty is an operation for cartilage deviation. The septum is an anatomical structure that divides into two sections within the nose. The septum consists of part of the bone and in most cases of cartilage. Two equal nasal sections are usually required to allow the patient to breathe properly. However, in almost 70 to 80 % of people, the septum is diagnosed as a “septum divergence” due to its inherent structure or external trauma. The operation performed to correct these abnormalities is called a “septoplastic” operation.

It is not possible to operate every septum deviation. Operational septoplasty is essential when secondary malaise, like a congestive nose, the difficulty of breathing, snoring, often sinusitis or chronic headaches accompany the deviation. Other anatomical structures called ‘concha’ are located in addition to the septum, making it easier for us to breathe and moisten the inner face of the nose. Because of allergy, these concha tissues may be inflamed and enlarged as a side effect. This makes breathing even harder. Patients receive better results when concha is treated in septoplastic surgeries.

  • Revision Rhinoplasty

People who are unhappy with their form of the nose and have previous problems following a rhinoplastic procedure may want to have a nose job once more. The second operation is known as surgery for revision.

Cartilage may have to be removed from another part of the body in the revision of rhinoplastic operations. The ear or rib is mostly extracted. If there has previously been cartilage extraction in these areas, cartilage from a cadaver could be obtained because the quantity of cartilage required for the new nose form is not enough.

  • How Long does it Take to Recover After a Nose Job?

The period of recovery depends on the seriousness of the operation. But usually, if there is no nausea or vomiting, patients can start to walk 4-6 hours and eat 6 hours later. In some cases, the patient can be released on the same day and, after one night’s observation, they are sometimes released the following day. The surgeon puts tampons into the nose at the end of the operation. The tampons are removed after 1-2 days and the cast on the back of the nose is removed about 1 week after the operation. Patients can usually go back to work within one week if the surgery does not lead to any complications. Swelling and contusions are very normal after the surgery and they are reduced to maquila-covered levels within 1 week-10 days. After 1 month of operation 75-80% of the inflammation and oedema will vanish. One year after surgery, the required appearance and complete recovery are achieved. It is very normal during this process if the patient sees oedema occurring around the nose in the morning and later disappearing.

  • Caring for yourself after Rhinoplasty

You must clean the silicone tampon in the first week after your Nose Job and keep it open so that you can breathe easier. Application of ice for a period of at least 2-3 days will continue to swell and bruise in the nose. Sports that require physical effort for 1 month must be stopped. The patient can begin to walk and perform simple exercises from the second week.

Glasses should not be worn for 6 months, if the patient must wear them, at least 2-3 months should be avoided, and then very light lenses may be used by the patient. Contact lenses should instead be used. A 1-month break from the sauna, solarium, sunbath and steam bath, sea, swimming pool is necessary to prevent oedema. The patient can take a shower once the splint is removed.

  • Rhinoplasty (Nose Job) Cost in Turkey

Every day more and more patients come to Turkey. While Turkey’s world-leading position in hair transplantation is known, rhinoplastic surgeries make it one of the world’s most popular 2-3. In particular, Turkey’s expert physicians and affordable prices are the reason for the preference to those coming to Turkey for a nose job. Almost 40,000 rhinoplasty operations in Turkey are performed every year.

The cost of rhinoplastic surgeries depends on the needs and the anatomy of the patient. Fortunately, it is 50-60 per cent cheaper in Turkey comparing to prices in Europe, thanks to Turkey’s medical staff and competitive prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best age for a nose job?

While there is no absolute right age to get rhinoplasty, an acceptable range is considered between 18 and 40. By this time, you have grown to be a better rhinoplasty applicant physically, and your skin still retains youthful elasticity.

Does my nose grow back after nose job?

The removed extra cartilage, bone, and tissue cannot grow back after a rhinoplasty. But because the nose of everyone continues to grow larger over the years, it may appear that a post-rhinoplasty nose regains a small amount of the fullness it had before surgery.

After rhinoplasty, how long until my nose looks normal?

While it can take 12-18 months to see the ultimate outcome of your rhinoplasty, most patients look normal and unoperated in 3-4 four weeks.

When can I go back to my normal life?

Around 5 hours after surgery, you will be able to meet the basic standard. Within 2-3 days, you will return to your everyday life.

Does my nose job last long?

Your nose is permanently restructured after a rhinoplasty, and the results usually last throughout your whole life. If you experience facial injuries, it’s possible for the nose to change in shape. Furthermore, very slight improvements to your nose may result from the normal aging process.
